End of Raaj
It was surreal! In front of national television, Trump acted like a dictator, by firing Raj Bhakta, who grew on me as the show progressed. Last week it was quite understandable, when Elizabeth got fired, without having the opportunity to defend herself in the boardroom. She was really weak and indecisive. She is clearly someone who is not used to failure and so many failures within a short time definately unsettled her. That was an open and close case… but what about this one?
The task was similar to the one headed by Katrina and Troy in the last season, where they had to renovate an apartment. Here, it was a little higher in scale, they had to resurrect a ramshackled home and increase its mortgage value. The episode was definately much more interesting than the last few weeks. We got to see more of Andy’s brilliance in guaging the situation well and making timely decisions although he was not the project manager this week. Sandy had a surprising win, which gives her immunity for another week.
Let us come straight to the interesting part… Raj was being perfectly Indian in not blaming anyone directly and playing the “nice guy”. That is pretty much what any of us would do, whether it is on national television or not. Kevin really proved to be the chicken of the century and he is surely going to die a natural death in the next 2-3 weeks in the show. Does it matter how much you survive? Absolutely not! Was Omarosa the 8th best candidate last time?? No way!!! As for Ivana…. she is the worst! I was absolutely enjoying the abuse she rec’d from Jenn M and it is going to carry on for a week atleast! She is going to absolutely disgrace her clan in front of national TV. Her famous dialog all the time is “bust my b*tt”… it is really gonna get handed to her when she gets fired eventually.
I think Raj really made worse mistakes before this and he escaped.. but this time, he paid for something he really did not do. I think Trump is just short-sighted this time and remembering what people do in front of him more than what they have done prior. Take for instance this unnecessary outburst by Chris even as he was leaving the boardroom? Trump blamed Raj for not bringing him into the boardroom for that mistake, leave alone the fact that Chris was another chicken. He got rebuked by Carolyn to go fix the problems. Actually, Trump may have fired Chris… but he just stopped short of doing that, when his associate told him that he’d like to see Chris lead and fix the issues.
Two or three things I took away from this episode: Never play a good guy, never goof up in front of your boss and never ever give anyone a chance to overthrow you in public!
